A watch for a good cause One-of-a-kind timepiece from A. Lange & Söhne auctioned off

The 1815 "Homage to Walter Lange" in stainless steel with black enamel dial is on the auction block. The auction house Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo will auction off the extraordinary piece at the weekend of 12 and 13 May 2018. The resulting sale price will be donated to the Children Action Foundation.

In general, mechanical timepieces can be recognised by their "creeping seconds" hand. Depending on the balance frequency, the hand advances from second to second in five to ten steps. In short-time measurements, however, where seconds count in the literal sense, constant progression sometimes makes it difficult to pinpoint the beginning and the end of an event.

F. A. Lange Watchmaking Excellence Award 2017 Regulator with jumping seconds in first place at international young talent competition

On 16 January 2018, the Frenchman Timothé Raguin, winner of the F. A. Lange Watchmaking Excellence Award 2017, received the first prize worth EUR 10,000 at a press event in Geneva. The jury of the international competition was particularly impressed by his work.
