Important historical events have a long-term impact, which means the precise day of their occurrence is less significant.  It doesn’t matter nowadays if the first moon landing happened on a Tuesday or a Thursday. But for smaller things the day does matter, for example if you remember about Tuesday’s dentist appointment on Thursday.
