The Imperial St. Petersburg Collection with the Frigate Shtandart
The frigate Shtandart was the first ship of the Baltic fleet. It was commissioned under the decree of Peter the Great and on the order of the Governor Aleksandr Mshikov in 1703. It was built at the Olonetsky shipyard near Olonets under the supervision of a Dutch ship builder. The Shtandart served to open the new trading route from Russia to the Baltic sea and sailed under the flat of the Imperial Russian Navy till the October Revolution in 1917. (more…)

Rebirth of the minute repeater: Ulysse Nardin Jaquemarts Minute Repeater Circus Aventurin
Ulysse Nardin was one of the earliest manufacturers to fuel the rebirth of the minute repeater. The minute repeater was made even more unique through the inclusion of animated figures called Jaquemarts on the dial and to this day, Ulysse Nardin remains the only manufacture in the world to use Jaquemarts on the dial of its minute repeaters. The Seamaster Ploprof 1200M - OMEGA’s mythical diver in white
In 1970 OMEGA launched the Seamaster Professional 600, the so-called “Ploprof” (the first letters of plongeur professionnel – the French words meaning “professional diver”), one of the most rugged, robust and seaworthy divers’ wristwatches ever manufactured. Last year OMEGA introduced a completely updated version of the divers’ classic. Equipped with a Co-Axial calibre 8500, the new Ploprof 1200M is, as its name suggests, water resistant to an astounding 1200 metres (4000 feet, 120 bar) and it is an artful union of its ancestor’s legendary features and OMEGA’s state-of-the-industry Co-Axial technology. In 2001, a dramatic incident changed the working life of Jan Sliva, head of the in-house studio for historic Lange pocket watches. A visitor of the manufactory had handed him an old pocket watch and asked for an appraisal. It was clear from the very first moment that this timepiece was an extraordinary one. It took more than two and a half years of development for the DE BETHUNE Manufacture to present the final version of its silicon / titanium tourbillon, the lightest tourbillon in the world with a remarkable frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour. This tourbillion differs from others in its design, since it has been adapted and calculated for a wristwatch, as opposed to existing tourbillons which are smaller versions of those used in pocket watches.
