Salone del Mobile with Marc NewsonJaeger-LeCoultre: State-of-the-art watchmaking meets contemporary design

As part of the exceptional events of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Marc Newson and Jaeger-LeCoultre presented their renewed cooperation at the Spazio Astoria. Introducing the exciting second chapter of the collaboration with Marc Newson, Jérôme Lambert – CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre-, explained: “We gave him carte blanche, knowing his fantastic capacity to transform dreams in reality. The newest collaboration, resulting in the Atmos 566, continues to build on creativity and innovation born from a mutual respect, and the same shared philosophy: the quest for perfection and details.” The entire movement for the Atmos 566 was re-designed and quasi re-invented by Marc Newson, giving a new face to the Calibre Jaeger-LeCoultre 566, which features exceptional functions as the equation of time, the view of the sky chart in the Northern hemisphere, and the cardinal points and zodiac.

In the Atmos 566, Marc Newson fulfilled a long-standing ambition to create a design for the quasi-perpetual clock: “Continuing the collaboration with Jaeger-LeCoultre was wonderful, because following the first ambitious project, I knew that the creation of 566 was to be even more complex. There are superficial similarities between both Atmos 561 and 566, but in details, both clocks are indeed very different. For an industrial designer, such project represents one of the most interesting and most satisfying ones. Jaeger-LeCoultre masters unrivalled skills, and this made it an incredibly enjoyable project. I had lot of fun designing it, because I knew that all what I wanted to do would have been achieved thanks to the skills of the Manufacture. Being able to achieve such a level of perfection is a designer’s dream.”

The result is truly majestic: the Atmos 566 by Marc Newson gives the Baccarat crystal’s cabinet a second and higher purpose. Two versions – a limited series of 28 in cobalt blue and another 28-piece translucent edition – magnify this renewed encounter.
