HUBLOT and motor sport: a fusion partnership

In the space of a few weeks, Hublot has already made its mark in the world of motor sport. First by supporting the Ayrton Senna Foundation with the “Monaco Senna Celebration”, a huge auction held during the Monaco Grand Prix. Then by sponsoring the Porsche Super Cup driver Olivier Maximin, who will be at the wheel of a Porsche Hublot with a revolutionary design for the 2007 season.

Hublot’s avant-garde watchmaking and the world of motor sport were made for each other. Two leading-edge technologies, in search of new materials, in total fusion with their goal. Similar materials, explored down to the last detail in their quest for the ultimate performance. This meeting of minds has today been crystallised in the form of two partnerships announced at Monaco on 25 and 26 April.

On 25 April, Hublot supported the organisers of the “Monaco Senna Celebration”, a commemorative event held on Friday, 25 May at the Hotel Fairmont in honour of the late, great champion. Twenty years to the day after the first victory of Ayrton Senna on the Monaco circuit, a huge auction sale of unique motor sport memorabilia will be held for the benefit of the Senna Institute, presided by Ayrton’s sister Viviane Senna. This sale will be the highlight of a retrospective exhibition to be held in Monaco from 19 to 27 May. Particularly sensitive to the cause of underprivileged children, especially through its ‘Main dans la Main’ Foundation, which works with orphans in India and received 10% of annual sales, Hublot responded enthusiastically to the call. The famous watch brand provided the Senna Institute with a unique example of the highly exclusive Big Bang All Black, which will bear the signature of the champion in red on the dial. Produced in a limited edition of 250 watches, which have all found ready buyers, this model incarnates Hublot “invisible visibility”. This exclusive model should therefore be the object of every collector’s desire, to the great joy of the Senna Foundation, which will receive the full proceeds of this sale.

On 26 April the Place du Casino in Monaco was the backdrop for a very unusual exhibition, where Hublot presented its exclusive and unique Porsche Super Cup model, redesigned with the colours of the brand, a vehicle that revolutionises design in the motoring world. At the wheel of this racing car, Olivier Maximin, an outstanding driver sponsored for the 2007 season by the watchmaker! The Super Cup championship, a veritable springboard for the Formula 1 Grand Prix, takes place on the same circuits on the morning of the Formula 1 race.

Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot, spoke out on this occasion: “There are many parallels between the world of watchmaking and the world of motor sport, in particular the treatment of materials. Whatever their difference in scale, they both incarnate a constant quest for high-tech materials, assembled in a masterly fusion between human craftsmanship and high technology.” You can safely bet that the Swiss watchmaker will continue on this course and that this is only the beginning of a fusion between avant-garde watchmaking and motor sport!
