LANGE 1 TIME ZONE for the winner of this year’s Concorso d’EleganzaItalian Design Classic Awarded with Saxon Watchmaking Art

This prize is more than a cup. Last weekend, David Cohen from Canada received his new gem from the hands of Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of the Saxon watch manufactory: a one-of-a-kind LANGE 1 TIME ZONE. Cohen received the award for his Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS 6th Series Coupé with a Figoni body of 1933.

The 1815 "Homage to Walter Lange" in stainless steel with black enamel dial is on the auction block. The auction house Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo will auction off the extraordinary piece at the weekend of 12 and 13 May 2018. The resulting sale price will be donated to the Children Action Foundation.

In general, mechanical timepieces can be recognised by their "creeping seconds" hand. Depending on the balance frequency, the hand advances from second to second in five to ten steps. In short-time measurements, however, where seconds count in the literal sense, constant progression sometimes makes it difficult to pinpoint the beginning and the end of an event.
