(01/2011) The 21st SIHH from January 17th to 21st 2011 will welcome 19 exhibitors, the same number as in 2010, in 30,000 sq m of floorspace at Palexpo, Geneva. The Beyer Clock and Watch Museum in Zurich will show some eighty of the most significant pieces from its collection, in an exhibition that traces the history of time measurement from the sundial to the twentieth-century wristwatch. (01/2011) The Management of Vacheron Constantin learned of the sad news of the death of  Mr Claude-Daniel Proellochs on January 8th, following an illness. The funeral will take place on Wednesday January 12th in strict privacy. Mr Proellochs headed Vacheron Constantin for 17 years from November 1st 1988 to December 31st 2005, when he retired.

(12/2010) Antiquorum ‘s December auction of “Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces” in New York totaled a noteworthy ,506,675. A remarkable 83% of the 356 timepieces were sold by lot and 119% sold by value, based on the low estimate. In addition to the many telephone, room, and commission bidders, there were 419 registered internet bidders competing for the sought after timepieces offered in the sale. Bids came in from across the world including from Australia, Italy, China, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and the United States.

(12/2010) On November 25th, 2010, Bernie Ecclestone was mugged and his Hublot watch stolen from his wrist. The very same day he sent the picture his wife had taken after the assault to Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot, along with a note: “See what people will do for a Hublot.” Since the two share a certain sense of humor, they soon agreed to turn the incident into an advert. Very good month for Swiss watch exports Swiss watchmaking in August 2010: Faster growth

(09/2010) August was a very good month for Swiss watch exports. Their value exceeded one billion francs (1.07 billion), nearly equalling the 2008 result. Monthly growth peaked at +24.1%. With two-thirds of the year now behind us, the branch is 20.1% higher and has grown at a sustained pace since last January. Gold watches set the tone in August with a gain of almost 40% in value. Bimetal timepieces also reported a better than average sales rise. In terms of the number of pieces, all the materials moved ahead. The increase was more pronounced for precious metals and bimetal watches.

(07/2010) The Swatch Group Ltd. and Tanzarella Ltd. signed a contract for the takeover of the activities of Tanzarella Ltd. in Riazzino/Locarno taking effect on July 12, 2010. The takeover will take place by transferring the assets into a recently founded Swatch Group company. The new company called Assemti Ltd. will be at the present location in Riazzino / Locarno. The Swatch Group Ltd. will acquire the building used until now by Tanzarella from Credit Suisse.

(06/2010) The Swiss watch industry appears to have found its cruising speed in the spring. The value of exports in May grew at a rate close to the average for the first four months of 2010, rising by 13.0% to a level of 1.2 billion francs. This two-digit increase also had a strong positive impact on the moving average over twelve months, which should see a return to growth towards the end of the summer.

One of the participants, the famous watch author Gerd-Lothar Reschke a.k.a „Gerd-Lothar“ was banned from Watch-Wiki in January 2009, due to gross violation of the internal rules. Apparently Gerd-Lothar Reschke tried to use the homepage, which is frequented strongly by watch lovers, for his own benefit.
