A Contribution to Watch Culture Sixth Class of Watchmakers Begins Education at Glashütte Original’s Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking

(08/2006) Selected out of over 200 applications twelve beginning watchmakers began their education at Glashütte Original’s Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking August 21st, 2006, at 9:30 am. With a plea to their honesty and commitment Glashütte Original’s managing director of production Günter Wiegand turned the new apprentices into the hands of Uwe Bahr and his educational team during a formal ceremony. This is the fifth class to go through the school since its opening in 2001.

(07/2006) For the third time the watch manufactory Glashütte Original said good bye to 12 graduates of the company’s owned watchmaking school "Alfred Helwig" on July 17th, 2006. After three years of apprenticeship the young watchmakers will enter the world of work. This important moment was appreciated with a ceremonial act in the manufactory’s atrium.

Magazine for Contemporaries Corporate Magazine Momentum Receives Two BCP Awards

(06/2006) The Glashütte Original watch manufactory’s customer magazine Momentum - Magazine for Contemporaries was honored with this year’s Best of Corporate Publishing Award (BCP). This award is given out each year to the best corporate publications in Europe during a conference of the industry association Forum Corporate Publishing (FCP) in Munich. On Wednesday, June 28, 2006, the magazine was presented with first prize in the consumer publication category and second prize in the print-online category.

Historical Establishment of the German Watch Museum Glashütte

(03/2006) The gonging of a vintage Glashütte grandfather clock by Karl W. Höhnel at exactly 12:00 on March 16, 2006, in the Glashütte Original manufactory’s atrium marked the historical establishment of the German Watch Museum Glashütte - Nicolas G. Hayek foundation. For this occasion, CEO of Swatch Group AG, Nick Hayek, jr., journeyed from Switzerland to join local mayor Frank Reichel and Glashütte Original’s managing director Dr. Frank Müller to seal the foundation’s establishment by signing the official paperwork.

Vacheron Constantin: The new manufacture in Plan-les-Quates is now operational

(08/2004) Vacheron Constantin took possession of its new Manufacture on August 9th 2004. Located in Plan-les-Ouates/Geneva, the premises designed by Swiss-born French architect Bernard Tschumi also serve as the brand’s international headquarters. (11/2003) One hundred guests attended a champagne reception to mark the opening of the first OMEGA Flagship Store in Germany.
