Expansion Officine Panerai grows worldwide with five new boutiques

(11/2009) Officine Panerai inaugurates five new boutiques in as many international shopping capitals. Between November and December 2009, in fact, Officine Panerai boutiques will be opened in Doha (Qatar), Beirut (Lebanon), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Geneva (Switzerland) and Macao (China). The expansion concerns both recent and fast-growing markets – such as China and the Middle East – and a place of ancient watch-making traditions like Geneva, where the boutique will be inaugurated in the prestigious Rue du Rhône.

(11/2009) While the Swiss watch industry has felt the full force of the financial crisis, with exports down 25% during the first nine months of the year, Montres Louis Erard S.A. is counting on a relative decline of only 5% for fiscal 2009. Without resorting to any triumphalism – this year’s Christmas sales are crucial for realising this figure – the company can nevertheless congratulate itself on not having had to lay off any employees since the crisis began, not even on a temporary basis. (11/2009) As from 16 October 2009 onwards Saxony’s baroque state capital Dresden is twinned with Hanghzou, capital of the Chinese province Zhejiang. The Saxon watch brand A. Lange & Söhne has been on the Chinese market for two years now and already recognised the economic significance of the metropolis with seven million inhabitants some time ago: Among the watch aficionados there is an increasing demand for the handmade timepieces from Saxony.

Strategic buildup First CIMIER Flagship Store open

(10/2009) The official unveiling of CIMIER’s first flagship store in Zurich was celebrated with a prestigious gala on October 30th, 2009. At 7 pm sharp, CIMIER CEO Martin Bärtsch cut the ribbon and treated the curious guests to a tour of the boutique. Held completely in white, the puristic interior design is highlighted with accents in the dark green brand color, giving the rooms an agreeable ambience.

(10/2009) On 15 October 2009, the new edition of the bestseller „Brands of the Century“, an encyclopedia of famous German brands, has been presented on the occasion of the book fair in Frankfurt. Official Timekeeper The IOC and Swatch Group Ltd Continue Long Term Partnership

(09/2009) The International Olympic Committee IOC and The Swatch Group Ltd. announced the signing today of a long term partnership in the areas of timing, scoring and venue results services for the Olympic Games. The Swatch Group Ltd. will be the Official Timekeeper and Results Service Partner for the XXII. Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, the Games of the XXXI. Olympiad in 2016, the XXIII. Olympic Winter Games in 2018 and the Games of the XXXII. Olympiad in 2020.

Swatch Group Tech-Airport wins the Nice Airport bid

(09/2009) Tech-Airport Holding SAS, a Swatch Group company specializing in retailing at airports, has won the bid to operate watch and jewelry outlets at the Nice Côte d'Azur airport. Tech-Airport already operates twenty-eight stores – nine at Roissy Charles de Gaulle (France); nine at Orly (France), five in Nice (France), one in Nantes (France) and another is scheduled to open in Vienna (Austria) in 2010.

Swatch Group Investigation against ETA

(09/2009) The Swiss Competition Commission COMCO informed today on their website that an investigation against ETA Manufacture Horlogère SA has been opened. It is not the first time that the COMCO investigates against a company of the Swatch Group. The Swatch Group is confident that the results of this investigation will again be positive for ETA.
