BASELWORLD 2016Glashütte Original has another good year at Baselworld

For eight days ending March 24, 2016, the people of Basel, Switzerland, could not help but feel the impact of the world's largest watch and jewellery fair, Baselworld. More than 145,000 visitors were in town for the annual show, among them some 4,400 journalists from over 70 countries, all bent on examining at close range the latest products from both large and small watch and jewellery makers.

Once again Glashütte Original proved a veritable magnet for the crowds, attracting over 1,000 representatives of the international press and media and a great many dealers from around the world. All were there to get a closer look at the German watchmaker's innovative products, and contributed to a successful Baselworld appearance for the firm again this year.

Keeping excellent company with other prestige and luxury brands of the Swatch Group in Hall 1.0, the Glashütte Original booth presented, along with this year's new products and current collection highlights, an authentic look at life behind the scenes: company watchmakers and colleagues from the firm's Pforzheim-based dial manufactory offered live demonstrations of their art. The round "watchmaker bar" at the heart of the new booth served as an effective showcase for Glashütte Original's experts, who were happy to demonstrate the diverse steps involved in the making of watches, watch restoration and the production of filigreed dials, and to answer questions from the visitors.

Among the notable highlights of the 2016 edition of the fair was the premiere of the firm's new manufactory Calibre 36, which celebrated its debut in classic, timeless style with the Senator Excellence.

The movement promises to set new standards in terms of precision, running time, stability and beauty – a promise made explicit and fulfilled by an individual quality and performance certificate delivered with each Senator Excellence watch.

The exceptionally accurate Senator Chronometer's new garb in elegant midnight blue was the object of considerable interest and desire, as were the new versions, rich in contrast, of the Lady Serenade watch for women.
